Can you actually watch Netflix in China?

There is no local Netflix service in mainland China. Netflix’s Help Center still lists China among the places where the service is unavailable, and it says its catalog varies by country because rights differ. That means there is no native Chinese Netflix catalog for a VPN to reveal.

A VPN can present the location of its exit server instead of your ordinary connection. Netflix’s own guidance, however, says that using a VPN may leave you with only shows and movies available in every region. It also does not support VPN viewing for live events or on an ad-supported experience.

The app works in a browser but not on a TV

Remove competing location tools. An old Smart DNS entry, second VPN, or custom proxy can create conflicting routes. Restart the device after changing the setup.

Do not copy DNS addresses from an old forum post. Netflix’s own troubleshooting tells users to return custom DNS to automatic settings for relevant connection errors. DNS changes cannot make a blocked VPN exit address reliable.
